Our Insurance Plans
Geodesk assists companies that relocate, expatriate, or second employees outside of France in managing two risks that standard insurance policies rarely cover reliably: professional liability incurred abroad and regulatory compliance specific to each country of operation. As a 100% international specialist for over 30 years with a presence in more than 150 countries, Geodesk negotiates customized coverage for each company that takes into account the jurisdictions involved, local insurance requirements, and the coverage gaps left by policies designed solely for France.
International Liability and Compliance: Protect Your Organizations
Human resources departments and mobility managers rarely have a clear picture of what their contracts actually cover outside the European Union. Geodesk identifies, on a country-by-country basis, the actual geographic scope of coverage, the list of exclusions, and the necessary extensions for high-risk destinations, so that coverage follows the employee wherever the company sends them.
Finance departments struggle to quantify the financial exposure associated with an unforeseeable incident occurring abroad, due to the lack of a reliable cost benchmark. Geodesk models critical scenarios—hospitalization, liability claims, and repatriation—and sets coverage limits based on actual costs observed in each country rather than on flat rates that are out of touch with reality.
Security and risk managers do not always have a single point of contact to manage a crisis involving multiple employees or multiple countries simultaneously. Geodesk centralizes incident reporting, assistance, and follow-up through a dedicated contact person who is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with the ability to respond to on-site emergencies in less than an hour.
In many countries, local regulations require that foreign employees be covered by insurance purchased from a locally authorized insurer. Geodesk verifies this requirement on a country-by-country basis and, where applicable, structures local policies that are coordinated with the group policy, ensuring that the company remains in compliance without leaving any gaps in coverage between the two levels.
Geodesk is a broker that specializes exclusively in insurance for individuals and international operations, with over 30 years of experience and a network of insurance partners in more than 150 countries. Where a general insurer applies standard policies, Geodesk negotiates each coverage provision on a case-by-case basis: no two policies are alike, because no two companies, assignments, or countries of operation present exactly the same challenges.
This specialization translates into a detailed understanding of exclusions, local requirements, and actual costs—which companies all too often discover only when a claim arises.
Geodesk assigns each company a dedicated contact person, from the initial contact through to claims management, without anonymity or the need to transfer the case from one department to another. This personalized approach is complemented by 24/7 assistance, 365 days a year, with the ability to respond to an on-site emergency in less than an hour. Geodesk’s reliability is further underpinned by strong partnerships with insurers and recognized legal expertise, notably through its publications within the Cercle des Directeurs de Sécurité des Entreprises (CDSE).

Geodesk begins with a comprehensive audit of existing contracts and the company’s actual circumstances: countries of assignment, employee status, territorial exclusions, coverage limits, and local compliance requirements. This audit reveals gaps and discrepancies between the company’s current coverage and its actual exposure.
Based on the audit, Geodesk designs a customized solution that combines professional liability, operational liability, regulatory compliance, and coverage specifically for key personnel. Each coverage option is negotiated with partner insurers and tailored to the company’s specific needs rather than based on a standard policy.
Geodesk sets up contracts and, when required by regulations, coordinates local policies with the group-wide program. HR teams and security managers receive reporting procedures and access to a centralized management portal.
Geodesk provides ongoing monitoring through a dedicated contact person, regular updates, and tracking of developments in the countries where operations are conducted. Since a country can be reclassified as a high-risk area within a matter of days, this monitoring allows us to adjust coverage before exposure turns into a claim.

Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about international professional liability insurance. For more specific inquiries, please contact us: we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Not always. Many professional liability insurance policies limit coverage to France or the European Union and exclude jurisdictions with high claim rates, such as the United States and Canada. Even a short-term trip to an excluded country can be enough to leave the company without any coverage. Geodesk verifies the policy’s actual geographic scope and negotiates the necessary coverage extensions for the countries actually involved.
In some countries, the law requires that foreign employees be covered by insurance purchased from a locally licensed insurer. A foreign policy—even one that offers greater coverage—may therefore be deemed noncompliant, and the insurer may be legally unable to pay claims locally. Geodesk identifies the countries in question and arranges for approved policies that are coordinated with the group contract.
It depends on how the policy is triggered. Most professional liability insurance policies operate on a claim-based basis: it is the date of the victim’s claim that counts, not the date of the harmful event. Without properly tailored subsequent coverage, a late claim—which is common given the statute of limitations in other countries—may remain uncovered. Geodesk tailors this subsequent coverage period based on the services provided and the countries involved.
Not by default. Service providers, consultants, spouses, and children accompanying an employee are often overlooked in corporate contracts, creating a gap in coverage for individuals who are nonetheless at risk. Geodesk systematically verifies that the actual status of these individuals matches the contracts that cover them.
The cost can be substantial and often greatly underestimated. According to Geodesk’s analyses, the average cost of a hospital stay abroad will exceed €25,000 in 2025, and intensive care treatment in a country with an expensive healthcare system can cost tens of thousands of euros. That is why Geodesk verifies not only the overall reimbursement limits, but also the specific limits for intensive care and resuscitation, deductibles, waiting periods, and whether an upfront payment is required.
A country can be designated a high-risk area within a matter of days, and many policies do not provide for any extension of coverage for destinations that have become high-risk, including countries that are merely transited through. Geodesk constantly monitors global news and adjusts coverage—including coverage for high-risk areas that may change, transit countries, and medical repatriation—before the risk materializes.
Medical repatriation is a critical benefit, the terms of which vary widely depending on the country and the policy: medical repatriation, repatriation of remains, and early return due to a serious family emergency. The quality of this service depends on whether there is an assistance platform that is truly available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; the availability of doctors; the languages spoken; and response times adjusted for time zone differences. Geodesk verifies each of these points for the countries where the company operates.
